Thank you to Grant Oakes of Grant Oakes Photography for letting us Inside the Image. “In April of this year I conducted a wedding workshop in the Bahamas and on the first day we were doing a fashion style session in and around the Atlantis Resort a few hours before the wedding. There was this amazing light coming down from an overhead skylight adjacent to the hallway by the aquarium and had smoke coming up from a faux well that created a very surreal look. Recently Pictage CEO Jim Collins posted on the Pictage Forums asking photographers to send in images that we would be able to hang on the Pictage walls. He asked for images that the photographers felt were not typical wedding or even wedding at all, but most importantly had stories behind them. We are so excited to announce this round’s winner… FIRST place goes to Don Bryant of Annapolis, MD. Congratulations Don! David’s Comments on the winning image: The compositional elements work together perfectly in this shot! The clouds mock the angle of the car. The leading lines of the car move your eyes eventually to the subjects. The depth is just great putting the original hard focus on the front of the car then gently going out of focus (but not too much) to the subjects. The colors are just great! Lauren is our San Francisco PUG leader and has been a Pictage member since 2005. “This image was part of a night engagement session I shot with my couple Karen and David, whose wedding is going to be November 08. We were running around San Francisco, looking for places with cool evening lights to incorporate in the shots such as theater marquees, bars with neon signs, strip clubs, etc. It was also raining. On weekends I would meet & greet brides at the store and do an occasional booking. One afternoon the store was kind of slow and I was starting to get bored.
