Inside the Image of Curt Apanovich

Today’s images and story were given to us by by Curt of Curt Apanaovich Moving Images… “I went to Canada to shoot a Trash the Dress session for a couple. This couple was married a few months ago, and haven’t seen or heard from their photographer since then…. and they haven’t seen any wedding photos either!!! A member of Photographymentor.com told me about the story, and I asked if they wanted to shoot a “Burnout” shot with a car spinning the tires (something I’ve been wanting to shoot). The couple was really excited to do the shoot (and actually have photos of them in their wedding outfits). I flew to Canada, met up with 6 members of the Photographymentor.com, and everyone helped out for the

Inside the Image of Jason Groupp

Today’s image was taken by Jason Groupp out of New York – a Pictage member since 2006… Jason says: Shooting on the streets of NYC is ALWAYS an experience!  This photo captures one of those greats moments and just makes me smile.   The story:  It’s about 7:30 p.m. in the middle of June and I’ve got about 3 minutes before that sun goes behind the buildings for good and all of a sudden I hear from behind me.  “Yo – Yo!”  and “Oh man, she’s fine!!”  🙂 My assistant Lindsey is next to me holding a fill card (California Sunbounce) and says, “Ugh, here comes trouble.”   This group of 16 year olds continue walking past while I am frantically trying to get a few more shots in before the light

Inside the Image of Rodolfo Arpia

Today’s Image was taken by Rodolfo Arpia of Rodolfo Arpia Photographer and founder of forodefotografos.com. He has been a Pictage member since 2006. “This is one of my own favorite images of all time and I think the main reason why is because I wasn’t supposed to shoot it! This is a wedding I shot with my buddy Andrew Van Gundy in Palm Springs at the Sandacre Estate. One of the most talked-about celebrity romances of Hollywood’s Golden Age was that of Marilyn Monroe and baseball legend Joe DiMaggio. The Sandacre Estate was the place where the couple went when they wanted to escape their hectic celebrity lives. We asked the bride to go up the stairs (Marilyn Monroe’s master suite was there) so we

Inside the Image of Joanne Bartone

Joanne Bartone of Joanne Bartone Photography and Pictage member since 2004 shared not one but two photos today! Shutter: 1/150TH – Aperture: f-4.5 – Focal Length: (my favorite lens! 70mm to 200mm) at 80mm – ISO: 160 – No Flash – Open Shade – final Photoshop enhancement. “I was blessed to have Maria and Brandon as one of my wedding couples in 2006 and I frequently call on Maria to model for me; this time I asked both Maria and Brandon to model for our PUG Roof Top group Shoot and as you can see, the results were stunning! Their chemistry is incredible – not much direction was necessary from the gallery of PUG photographers shooting – I suppose that was one of the reasons

Inside the Image of Heather Fowler

Today’s image was given to us by Heather Fowler of Heather Fowler Photography and Pictage members since 2004… “This is Rebecca and Shaun taken at Knowlton Mansion on May 4th, 2008. The mansion has a cool space in the basement that is an old wine cellar. It is dark and dank smelling but all lit up with candles and they set out wine and cheese for guests. The guests have to go down a long winding staircase to get to it. I cleared out the room of any guests, and I told the couple to go in that little nook and just be into each other. They seem REALLY into each other in such a strange space which makes it even more intimate. I put

Inside the Image of Jules Bianchi

Jules Bianchi (Pictage member since 2003 & LA PUG leader) let me snag today’s image and story from her blog… “When I first saw Julie’s colors (red tones) I was excited because I knew there was a red wall in the parking lot level of the Walt Disney Concert Hall where she was getting married. For this image, I asked them to hold hands and look at me. I wanted them to simply stand quietly together because I was trying to capture something that might evoke feelings of a vintage wedding image like this one:” “How I shot it: I was shooting in RAW with my Canon 5D and my new 50mm 1.2 lens. This image was shot in manual mode at 1/80, f 1.6, ISO

Inside the Image of Angela Anderson

Today’s image was given to us by Angela Anderson of Angela Anderson Photography… “This photo is a recent favorite of mine, taken this month. I love doing bridal portraits in my studio because it affords me perfect weather and a lot of control. Since I have control-issues this works well for me! One of the walls in my studio just happened to have this amazing light pattern that typically comes in in the early evening. I love it because it looks like impressionistic brush strokes. I had Andrea, my bride, think of something that made her feel serene. I intentionally focused soft on her, because I thought it fit with the styling of the photograph. It is deep and dramatic and that is just so

Inside the Image of Chelsea Nicole

Chelsea Nicole of Chelsea Nicole Photography (and our new Vegas PUG leader) gave us today’s image. “Imagine this image with a soft Italian opera playing in the background. That’s how I remember it. The opera is being sung by the groom’s father. His mother is gently weeping… And it’s the best day of this couple’s life. I chose this image to feature because it might not be immediately apparent that in addition to the newly-weds clearly in love – there’s a third spirit represented: the groom’s father. The inspiration behind this image came directly from him. One of Pete’s best memories was of their trip to Italy and so this shot was born. Pete, and his new bride Reann, in front of the beautiful Venetian

Inside the Image of Lauren Hillary

Thank you Lauren of Lauren Hillary Photography for today’s image!!! “Despite the rain, wind and chill we had here yesterday I had one of the best days with my long time clients Shawna and Anthony Puma. I photographed Shawna and Anthony’s wedding way back in 2003! I will never forget how much love I felt that day especially when Anthony said so adoring to Shawna I cant wait to make little baby Puma’s with you, how freaking heart melting is that! Well guess what…The Pumas are having Twins! So here we are 5 years later braving the rain in Newport! Because it was raining I had a backup plan to shoot in the studio but I knew that wasnt what Shawna really was going for.

Inside the Image of Staja Studios

Love this image from Jason and Stacey Thon of Staja Studios.  They are the Minneapolis PUG leaders and have been Pictage members since 2003. “This is one of our all-time favorite wedding images.  Everything about this couple, and their wedding, was a pleasure to work with.   From their wedding party to their venue, it was a defining Saturday.  One that screamed out loud telling us we have indeed found what we are meant to do.  This particular image moves us, because it is the moment they are entering their reception hall for the first time.  Their happy family and friends are on the other side of the door waiting to greet them as husband and wife.  We just love the feeling of anticipation this
