What are the top 3 things you want attendees to take from your presentation?
1. The power of momentum! So many times in business it can feel like we’re just pushing and pushing and getting nowhere. It’s all we can do to just keep our heads above water. But we want to help people figure out and focus on the things that really matter. The things that will help take that weight off their shoulders, grow their business exponentially, and take the work out of getting bookings. It really doesn’t have to be this hard! We’ve seen this happen in our own business and everything that’s happened in just the past two years. That’s the thing about momentum…once you get it going; it’s amazing how quickly you can pick up speed.
2. Life is won and lost in the small steps: In business, you’re either growing or you’re dying. You’re never standing still. And all it takes is just one small step to switch the direction your momentum is heading. We want to show people how to up the wow-factor every step of the way with their clients from booking to well after the wedding, all by just doing a little bit extra. I think this quote from John Maxwell really sums up this point: “Ask me what sets most successful people apart from the crowd and I could sum it up in just four little words. A little bit more.”
3. Be choosey about who you spend your time with. When we’re just starting out in this business or when the economy hits hard times, it can be so tempting to just book anything we can get. But this is exactly the time when we should be the most selective with our clients. Because dealing with a bad client will weigh you down and keep you from doing the things you need to do to grow your business. We’ll explain our version of the 80/20 principle for clients and show how we find and keep clients that we love and who love and rave about us in return.
What’s your favorite thing about Partner Conference Los Angeles?
PartnerCon 2006!! It was hands down, without a doubt THE turning point in our business. Seriously, I can track it to the day. Talk about your absolute life-changing, world-rocking, upside down and then right side up again experiences. We knew NOTHING! Absolutely nothing about the direction our business was going in. It was the most eye-opening, set you on fire, kick in the pants and don’t sleep for three days while you’re at it experience of our lives!!
We literally filled up an entire notebook with new ideas and dreams, and the second we landed back in Connecticut, we changed EVERYTHING! We would be nowhere near where we are in our business if we hadn’t gone. I just can’t say enough about it. So if you’ve never been before and you’re thinking about going….GO!!!!! You will never regret it! Just bring a big notebook and be prepared to see EVERYTHING differently!
What is the best advice you can give someone who has never attended a Pictage Partner Conference?
Just take it all in! Go to as many sessions as you can and definitely hit up the cocktail hour and dinners. So many of our best friends have been made just talking to people between sessions or over dinner. Don’t be afraid to go up and talk to anybody!! We LOVE meeting new people, so definitely grab us and say hello!!
Besides your own presentation who would you like to hear?
Are you kidding me??? There are SO many people we love!! I don’t even know how to go about picking, so here is just a couple off the top of our heads: Robert T. Williams is HILARIOUS so we could listen to him talk about anything. Dane Sanders & Liana Lehman sound like they’re going to have AWESOME sessions. Jules Bianchi is just adorable and “Love & Happiness” sounds like it’s going to rock. Corey & Carlos are at the same time so that’s going to be a really hard choice, and probably the hardest decision of the whole conference is going to be for the last session: Davina & Millie, Chris & Katie, AND J & Emilie at the same time??? C’mon!! That’s six of our favorite people in the WHOLE world during one session!! The only thing I can think is that we’re going to have to clone ourselves so we don’t miss any of them!! That could work right?
