Describe your photography style or words that describe your brand?
I try and keep it as fun and informal as possible. This way they are relaxed and more likely to experience true emotion which leads to perfect moments to capture. It’s all about the moments, however, the best moments are hard to catch. The more relaxed and comfortable your bride and groom are, the more moments you’ll have a chance to catch. I need to start hiring 2nd shooters!!! Is there anyone in LA who has nothing to do on a Saturday?
What is your favorite thing about Pictage?
The Free Album Designs of course! The people are cool too. We have a lot of fun at the events. I hear the LA PUG is the place to be!
What lens could you not live without?
I’d rather have my 70-200 I.S. than the keys to my Aston Martin.
How do you juggle your business and family/social life?
Photography makes it easy to have a social life considering I have at least 1 friend at every event I shoot.
What workflow tools do you use?
It’s all about the Bridge! Couple that with a few CS3 tweaks and presto!
How long does it take you to upload to Pictage?
I usually walk in and deliver my events in person since Pictage is right here in LA. From home, it usually takes 1 hour for every 250 or so images.
How long have you been a photographer?
Since the fall of 2000. I had an old school Pentax. Thank God for digital breakthroughs!
What was your very first job?
Veterinary Asst in the 6th grade. That was fun until I got mauled by a stray cat. I think it was a bobcat or something!
Most listened to song on your ipod?
Any Lupe Fiasco Song. Lately, Coldplay has been in there also.
What is something you have learned this year?
How to manipulate ISO in low light situations and not panic if my goal for an image isn’t achieved. An image can always be salvaged in post production. I also learned how to remove the lens cap before I shoot!
What is a goal for 2008?
10 destination weddings, 7 to go! St. Thomas, here we come!!!
What is one thing we don’t know about you?
I was a Biology major…So much for med school right?
Who inspires you?
Barack Obama.
How do you get most of your bookings? What is your primary way of marketing?
So and so tells so and so. Then that so and so calls and we strap on our boots and tighten our laces.
What blog do you stalk?
I had an opportunity to turn Gene Higa on to Pictage. I then met him in Vegas for WPPI and ever since, I’ve been checking out his blog.
I probably stalk Lacy’s Blog the most. She’s a great photographer out of Houston TX and at age 26, she’s probably the most impressive young photographer I know. She’s personally helped me take my game to the next level from sharing her workflow solutions to showing me how to turn an entire wedding around in 2 hours!!!
